We’re rounding up the year with an introspective selection of quality music by all-around dance floor specialist Peach.
An unmistakable highlight in today’s left-of-centre scene, Peach always captures our undivided attention. Whether it be releasing colourful dance floor anthems via her Psychic Readings imprint, or captivating dancers with her distinctively vibrant sets at places like De School, Nowadays and Lente Kabinet, the London-based vibe queen is on top of her craft and solidified her position as a global tastemaker with energy, dynamism and passion.
Concluding our program for 2023 in style, she selected some of her favourite tracks of this year, or in her own words; “I think the best way to explain this list is that it is a reflection of tracks I have been playing over the course of the last year. I grabbed these all from my rekordbox so they are very honest. There are some memories of where I have played the tracks and some stories about where I found them in the first place.”

Conducta – Lessons (Interplanetary Criminal ‘Back 2 Skool’ Mix) (Kiwi Records)
One of my big festival bangers of the year which instantly gets EVERYONE going. I firmly believe there is a worldwide, unspoken appreciation for speed garage. Too many moments playing this all over – the first time being in a b2b with OK Wlliams at Nachtiville. Can someone book us b2b again? Thanks.
Fantastic Man – Visions of Dance Vol. 1 (Superconscious Records)
I cannot explain the chokehold that Party Rug had on me for the first half of the year. I always looked forward to playing this – it played its part in many sets of mine over 2023, most notably at Pitch Festival in March. The switch up in bassline from what I refer to as ‘the heads down moment’ into ‘the part which feels like you’re on some sorta summer vacation in a convertible a la avicii bromance video moment’ is for me, what makes this song so playable & repeatable.
Horsegiirl – Shanti’s Barn Shanti’s Rules (Bootleg Remix)
A free DL from Shanti Celeste. Honestly this track speaks for itself. A big one from the queen tangerine herself.
Masarima – Freak Like U (Clone Royal Oak)
Somehow I only discovered this 2020 re-issue this year, and did I ever rinse it. This became one of my favourite closing tracks to play in so many clubs worldwide, some standout moments in Milan, Barcelona, Berlin… too many to name. It will remain a classic for me for years and years to come <3
Binary Digit – EP 2 (Zeitnot)
I think I discovered this track through IDing it on someone’s instagram story (lol). The first time I played out ‘Sneaking Out Of The Club’ was at Lente Kabinet this year near the end of my set. I had been building up to it for the entire set, since it’s quite fast and I started slower than 150 BPM, and I think slowing it down too much, for too long takes away from it. I have since warmed up to slowing it down, but only for a few bars at a time until bringing it back up very quickly with the Wide function on CDJ pitch – something I had a lot of fun with in Bristol at Strangebrew for Better Days a few months ago.
Marius Acke & Walter Wirken – Move Your Body (Tequero Mix)
Sometimes when I hear a track for the first time, I can instantly envision a place where they belong – this is how I felt when I listened to Move Your Body (Tequero Mix) for the first time. It instantly felt like a major anthem for the Maricxs parties, so I played it for the first time at FOLD in London in April, when the Maricxs crew and I threw a party together.
Downstairs J – Too (SUZI)
I discovered Downstairs J through the Juanitas Mix series – I listened to their edition 100s of times, until I realized they make music as well. This is an early set essential.
Parris & Untold – Lip Locked (Oro)
Late entry for one of my most played tracks of the year. I have a distinct memory playing this at Savage in Hanoi, while everyone’s balloons bounced around the club.
Night Jogger – Driving Claps
Night Jogger is a producer from Canada I just discovered this year through D.Tiffany – they’re someone to keep an eye on for me. I’m always looking for good drum tracks for my sets – if you like this one, check out the Non Verbal EP as well.
Mathew Jonson – Typerope (Itiswhatitis Recordings)
A classic, an essential track for the special moments. This track will always hold a place in my heart, and if I’m playing this out it means I’m really enjoying myself. I played it this year at Houghton Festival & The Ghost Halloween party at Hoppetosse.
Love Letters – I Call Upon (The Bunker New York)
I pinched this one from a Joe Delon substack post (THANKS JOE!), and then I played this in my b2b with Sugar Free at Dimensions Festival this year. When I was playing it, Joe Delon himself was at the front having a big dance which felt cute and full circle.
DJ Assault – The Booty House Collection
I discovered ‘Gay Guy’ on the dancefloor with friends at Honcho Campout while Ariel Zetina was playing an iconic closing set (thanks Kyle for the ID – you can listen back to the set here). I brought it with me the weekend after to Nowadays NYC for their Non-Stop party, and all my friends that were at honcho with me were now on the dancefloor going crazy. Many good tracks in this collection, while I’m not entirely sure ‘Gay Guy’ was intented to be a Gay Guy Anthem, it is NOW and I speak for the queer community when I say we are reclaiming it.
Pangea – Changing Channels (Hessle Audio)
Did we need yet another list praising this album? I don’t care honestly I play ‘The Slip’ in pretty much every set and that might not change anytime soon.
BASHKKA – Maktub (UMAY)
A huge EP from Bashkka, she’s a very talented DJ and this EP feels like an extension of her sound. Everytime I play Act Bad everyone is looking around feeling fierce, and I felt this especially when I played it in Manila on my last tour in Asia.
Eli Escobar – Touch Want Feel (Night People)
This EP is a standout for me this year – both Touch Want Feel & Deep Down Inside (Dub Mix) have been staples in my sets for many months. The snare rolls in Touch Want Feel are a crazy build up moment for peak time, and there’s a sassy feeling that carries through the whole track which I love!!!! Deep Down Inside (Dub Mix) is the perfect wind down for the end of a set.
Rat Heart Ensemble – Northern Luv Songs 4 Wen Ur Life’s A Mess (Shotta Tapes)
Lastly, one for home listening – I first heard Rat Heart Ensemble on the NTS Morning show with Flo, one of my favourite shows on NTS. I listen to Flo every morning!!! My favourite track is “ ‘Help’ Spelled Backwards” <3
