The wonderful NIKS lays down a sick selection of rolling house tunes, timeless classics and dancefloor-tested goodies.
It’s been a big year for DJ and producer NIKS and we’ve enjoyed seeing her hit new highs a lot. Aside from serving her radiant selections and infectious blends to dance floors across the globe, 2024 saw the Black Artist Database co-founder release her first studio works. Among which her debut EP, titled “Milieu”, that landed on Or:la’s Céad label – an amazing 4-track that she constructed over the course of 1.5 years and that taps into the sounds she holds closest to heart. Following the release we’ve seen her original productions pop up on various comps, next to providing a sick remix for 131BPM.
While we patiently await her next moves, we thought it would be fun to invite her to contribute a selection of her favourite music on Bandcamp. You can check out the beaming curation below, alongside her accompanying words.

Words and curation by NIKS
Pancake – Don’t Turn Your Back (Armada Music)
A simple classic which I recently tapped into again last month, works so well at the start of a set or midway through for a switch up. Armada put out so many good house tunes in the 90s, with this one you have the repetitive synth and not much else going on which I love.
Autotune – Monofreakz (Boys Noize Records)
Perfect for opening, which I’ve done a few times, to set a new tone before fully entering a set.
Classmatic x Ruffneck ft. Yavahm – Everybody Be Somebody (Extended Mix) (Nervous Records)
A very simple house track with the classic vocals that I’ve slotted into many sets this summer and autumn in Australia. A nice builder for the dance floor..
VIL – Vial (dolly)
This new EP by VIL via dolly is so so good. Real, raw, groovy melodies with a ‘’house’’ influence on the 90s sounding tech side. A real dancefloor charger that really had everyone moving during my closing set at Luna Blessings in Naarm (Melbourne).
Peverelist – Pulse XIII (Livity Sound)
The entire Pulse Echo EP is solid, but Pulse XIII is the track for me. I recently played it out in Manchester and had a handful of track ID requests afterwards. The entire Pulse series that Pev has drip fed us over the past 1.5 years has been great.
Polygonia – Shen Wai Shenfa (Midgar)
This Polygonia track I have been obsessed with all year and have been playing it out up until this month. A perfect percussive club gem with depth and intricacy. Another one I played in the final segment of my closing set at Luna Blessings.
FJAAK, Red Eye – Unity (G’s Dub)
Any track reimagined by the G does it for me. This G dub is oh so heavenly and magical, another synth and pad induced track perfect for the end of the night.
Kim Ann Foxman – Lunar Dance (System A7A)
Foxman is another staple producer for me, and this track does the job mid set when wanting to bring things down a notch to vibe before bringing things back up. Worked super nicely during my closing set at Luna Blessings.
Kolter – Horny Breakdancer (Pilot)
A simple and dreamy reimagining of a classic, perfect for when the lights turn on/the sunrise. The in and out kick makes this a perfect unwinder.
Latino Circus – In Your Soul (2019 Remaster) (Yoshitoshi Recordings)
A deep house classic that I’ve played in almost every set this month, which I rediscovered towards the end of summer. The most authentic timeless house sound which does it for me and my soul all the time.
Fireground – Red Night (Ilian Tape)
Pretty much anything that Fireground put out is an instant yes from me, this has been a lovely track to close out sets and my radio show with – beautiful.
